A novel by Linda Mazini, later Villari, issued in London by T. Fisher Unwin in 1885 for general readers of English fiction. The 23 pictures are chapter-opening initial capitals drawn in fine outline within square frames, each letter set against scrolling foliage, daisies, tulips and urns or baskets of fruit; designers can lift a coherent outline alphabet for drop caps, monograms or frame ornament.
