Engaged to be married: a tale of to-day
A late-Victorian romantic novel of contemporary manners by L. T. Meade (Elizabeth Thomasina Meade Smith), issued in London by Griffith, Farran & Co. in 1895 for a readership of girls and young women. The 44 plates are captioned line engravings of courtship and domestic incident — punting on a river, a woman in a white ball gown, figures at doorways and firesides — useful for period dress, interiors and quotation-captioned layouts.
