Wild Kitty, etc
A girls' story by L. T. Meade (Elizabeth Thomasina Meade Smith), issued in 1897 by W. & R. Chambers of Edinburgh and London for young readers. The plates are pen-line landscape vignettes reproduced as line blocks: low river banks, cattle standing in shallow water, clumped trees, cottage gables and a square church tower on a flat horizon, with ruled hatching for sky and water that supplies ready-made textures, framed and unframed headpiece shapes.
