St. Helena: a physical, historical, and topographical description of the island ... The botanical plates from original drawings by Mrs. J. C. Melliss
A survey of St Helena's geology, history, topography and natural history by John Charles Melliss, published in London in 1875 for naturalists and colonial readers, with botanical plates drawn by his wife. The hand-coloured lithographs show endemic shrubs and trees as single woody branches on cream grounds, with outlined dissections of florets, stamens and seed capsules ranged below for diagram and silhouette use.
