Garnston; or a Life's Discipline ... With ... illustrations by W. Gunston
A Victorian novel of moral instruction by Anne Mercier, published in London in 1872 with illustrations by W. Gunston, aimed at family and young readers. The plates here are small black-line tailpieces and chapter ornaments: a buttercup sprig with cut leaves, a symmetrical scroll panel with facing birds, and a knotted arrow-and-serpent device, all usable as rules, dividers and spot decorations.
