Mountains and Lakes of Switzerland and Italy, ... views from original sketches by C. Pyne
An 1871 illustrated account of Alpine travel, with views after watercolour sketches by C. Pyne and text by Jerome John Mercier, published in London for Victorian tourists heading to Switzerland and northern Italy. The colour plates are small horizontal chromolithographs of lake towns, bridges, chalets and snow peaks, printed in soft greens, blue-greys and terracotta with pale skies and tiny figures, useful for muted landscape palettes, vignetted scenic panels and architectural detail like tiled roofs and church towers.
