Les Ecossais en France. Les français en Écosse. [With illustrations
A two-volume historical study by the philologist Francisque Michel on Scots in France and French in Scotland, published in London by Trübner in 1862 for antiquarians and genealogists. The plates are small wood-engraved shields, each numbered and captioned with a family name, showing lions rampant, chevrons, roundels, fleurs-de-lis and leopard heads rendered in hatching and stipple that stand in for heraldic tinctures — a supply of crests, escutcheon outlines and line-pattern fills.
