Gipsy Mike; or, Firm as a Rock. [A tale
A moral tale for young readers issued by the evangelical London publisher J. F. Shaw & Co. in 1881, with signed pen-and-ink plates captioned by quoted lines of dialogue. The drawings are open, lightly hatched line work set in plain framed borders: two boys on a shaggy pony, a bedside prayer in a bare attic, a churchyard meeting, a ship's cabin interview, useful for period costume, rural props and figure groupings that reproduce cleanly at small sizes.
