Atlas volume to Jacques Gérard Milbert's 1812 Paris account of a voyage to the Île de France (Mauritius), the Cape of Good Hope and Tenerife, issued for subscribers to illustrated travel narratives. The 48 plates are soft-toned landscape engravings printed sideways: shingled colonial houses on hillsides, palms and tree ferns framing bays, mountain ranges under broad skies, with small figures for scale.
