Poems ... With notes. [With a portrait
An 1881 London edition of John Milton's poems, edited with notes by William Michael Rossetti and issued by Ward, Lock & Co. for Victorian general readers. The pictures are small wood-engraved vignettes cut to circles and half-moon lunettes: birds in flight, a rocky waterfall, bare winter branches, a church seen across flat fields, all modelled in dense parallel line shading useful as spot ornaments, roundels and chapter tailpieces.
