A six-volume topographical survey of British and Irish country houses, compiled by Francis Orpen Morris and issued by Longmans in London from 1866 for landowners and armchair travellers. The chromolithographed plates show mansions at a distance across lawns and lakes, framed by heavy foliage in yellow-green and russet, useful for architectural silhouettes, tree masses and pale washed skies.
