The County Seats of the Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland. vol. 1, 2. (Vol. 3-5. A Series of Picturesque Views of Seats of the Noblemen ... of Great Britain and Ireland. With descriptive letterpress.)
A multi-volume survey of British and Irish country houses compiled by Francis Orpen Morris and issued by Longmans in London from 1866, sold to landed families and readers of topographical serials. The 121 chromolithographed plates show mansions set back across lawns, framed by mature trees under pale cloud, giving designers soft graded skies, flat green foregrounds and repeated facade silhouettes.
