Peter's Letters to his kinsfolk. [By J. G. Lockhart, assisted by Christopher North.] The second edition. (Postscript to the third edition of Peter's Letters.)

Lockhart, J. G. (John Gibson), MORRIS, Peter - pseud · 1819 · William Blackwood · 18 pictures

A satirical epistolary survey of Edinburgh literary and legal society, written by John Gibson Lockhart under the pseudonym Peter Morris and published by William Blackwood in 1819 for a Scottish and London reading public. Eighteen stipple and etched bust portraits show men in high collars, stocks and heavy caped coats, heads set in loose hatched ovals that fade to blank paper, useful as vignette frames and period likenesses.
