Die deutschen Kaiser und ihre Zeit, mit dem Zwischenreich von 1806-1871 ... Mit ... Bildnissen
A German-language survey of the Holy Roman and German emperors down to the founding of the Empire in 1871, published in 1889 under the name Johann Mühlheim for general and school readers, with 48 full-page portrait plates cut by the Munich engravers Braun & Schneider. Each plate sets a crowned ruler in profile or half-length inside a roundel or Gothic arch, ringed by heraldic shields, banners, trophies of arms and small narrative vignettes of battles and court scenes, with reign dates and blackletter mottoes — usable as ready-made medallion frames, ornamental borders and outline-engraved figure groups.
