Monographie de la Cathédrale de Nevers
An 1854 French monograph on Nevers Cathedral by the antiquarian priest Augustin Joseph Crosnier, written for archaeologists, architects and clergy studying the building's medieval fabric. The plates run to engraved headpieces and tailpieces of strapwork cartouches with blank centre panels, and Romanesque-style historiated initials filled with winged beasts and foliate scroll, all fine black line on white — ready-made frames, drop caps and rule-work dividers.
