The plates shown are symmetrical pen-drawn tailpieces and head ornaments built from winged griffins, grotesque masks, acanthus scrolls, urns and blank cartouche shields, drawn in fine hatched line on cream paper and usable as chapter breaks, frames or monogram grounds.
