History of Runcorn; with an account of the ancient village of Weston ... Drawings by H. Fitton. [Reprinted from the “Runcorn Guardian.”

NICKSON, Charles. · 1887 · Mackie & Co. · 29 pictures

A local history of Runcorn and the neighbouring village of Weston, written by Charles Nickson, illustrated with drawings by H. Fitton, and issued in 1887 by the Cheshire printers Mackie & Co. after serial publication in the Runcorn Guardian for townspeople and subscribers. The plates are pen-and-ink views reproduced in pale grey line, many as soft-edged vignettes: river frontages with masts and barges, a long bridge crossing the estuary, church towers, cottages and wooded slopes, useful for faded landscape fills, oval vignette shapes and fine hatched skies.
