The Writings of Thomas Paine. Collected and edited by M. D. Conway
A scholarly edition of Thomas Paine's political and religious writings, collected and edited by Moncure Daniel Conway and issued by G. P. Putnam's Sons in 1894 for readers of American revolutionary and freethought literature. The plates are small black-line headpieces and tailpieces printed among the text: bilaterally symmetrical scrollwork built around urns, rosettes, acanthus leaves and paired trumpeting figures, usable as chapter dividers, borders, or stock ornament for letterpress-style layouts.
