The Eyes of the Thames
A short Thames-side narrative by Arthur Thomas Pask, published in London by Ward & Downey in 1889 for the general late-Victorian reading public. The plates here are printer's ornaments rather than scenes: a dove perched in a beaded oval medallion flanked by symmetrical olive branches, a swag of foliage with birds taking flight, and a stylised flower fleuron of thin scrolls and dotted stems, all usable as rules, dividers and chapter marks.
