Pawson and Brailsford's Illustrated Guide to Sheffield and neighbourhood, etc
A local guidebook to Sheffield and its surrounding district, published by the printers Pawson and Brailsford in 1862 for visitors and the town's manufacturing trade. The wood engravings are exterior views of cutlery, saw, file and stove-grate works: long ranges of windowed workshops, chimneys trailing smoke, yard walls and carts, drawn in fine parallel line with pale open skies useful as industrial backdrops or line-art architecture.
