A sixty-four-plate topographical album on the Mediterranean, its islands and shores, compiled in Italian by Marco Malagoli Vecchi after C. Pellé in 1841, with London-engraved steel plates from on-the-spot drawings by William Leighton Leitch, Sir Grenville Temple and Henry Edmund Allen, sold to Italian subscribers. The views are pale, finely ruled steel engravings of harbours, colonnaded ruins, quays and palace fronts, with small groups of figures in local dress giving scale; useful for skylines, foliage framing, crowd silhouettes and soft graded skies.
