Las Calles de Madrid. Noticias, tradiciones y curiosidades ... Dibujos de La Cerda
A Spanish street-by-street history of Madrid, its anecdotes, traditions and curiosities, written by Hilario Pe"nasco de la Puente and Carlos Cambronero in 1889 with drawings by La Cerda, for local readers and antiquarians. The plates are pen-drawn chapter initials in which the letter sits inside a still life of trophies \u2014 pikes, flags, drums, helmets, sculpted busts, stone doorways and tablets \u2014 giving designers ornate display capitals and small armorial and architectural vignettes with clear white backgrounds.
