The Life and Adventures of Kit Carson, the Nestor of the Rocky Mountains, etc
A popular frontier biography of Kit Carson, compiled by Mrs. DeWitt C. Peters from the earlier Peters account and issued by Frederick Warne in London in 1888 for general readers of adventure narrative. The wood engravings show mounted Plains Indians, wagon-train ambushes, trappers in canyons and camp scenes, with loose crosshatched skies and rocky terrain useful for figure groups, horses and landscape texture.
