Houghton, Arthur Boyd, NORTH, John William., WALKER, Frederick - Artist · 1874 · George Routledge & Sons · 150 pictures

An illustrated verse anthology published by George Routledge & Sons in London in 1874, pairing poems by living authors with drawings by Frederick Walker, John William North and Arthur Boyd Houghton, wood-engraved by the Dalziel Brothers for the Victorian gift-book trade. The plates are dense grey landscapes of hedgerows, orchards and cottage yards with figures in crinolines and smocks, useful for fine-line foliage texture, rural genre vignettes and full-page tonal engraving.
