The History and Antiquities of Highgate, Middlesex. With illustrations

POTTER, George William - a Trustee of the Wells and Campden Charity, PRICKETT, Frederick. · 1842 · 68 pictures

A local antiquarian history of Highgate in Middlesex, compiled by Frederick Prickett with later additions by the trustee George William Potter, published in London in 1842 for residents, subscribers and county historians. The plates are topographical views — brick mansions, gatehouses, tollgates and chapels — drawn in fine engraved line and softer wood-engraved vignette, framed by loose foliage and animated by small figures, carts and dogs, useful for period architectural elevations, tree silhouettes and vignette borders that fade into blank paper.
