Histoire de Braine et de ses environs
A local history of the town of Braine and its surroundings in the Aisne, written by Stanislas Prioux and published in France in 1846 for antiquarians and regional readers. The pictures are small wood-engraved initial letters set inside Gothic architectural frames — crocketed canopies, pinnacled parapets, tracery panels and figures standing in side niches — usable as decorative drop caps, borders or architectural motifs at small scale.
