The Tour of Doctor Prosody, in search of the antique and picturesque, through Scotland, the Hebrides, the Orkney, and Shetland Isles. Illustrated by twenty humorous plates
A comic verse travelogue of 1821, published in London by M. Iley, that sends a clerical antiquary around Scotland, the Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland in parody of Combe's Doctor Syntax, for readers who knew the fashion for picturesque touring. Twenty hand-coloured caricature plates drawn and engraved by Charles Williams set a black-coated figure against castles, ferry boats, kilted Highlanders and cluttered curiosity shops: usable for grouped figures, costume and outline landscape.
