The Door without a Knocker, and other tales
A collection of moral tales by Sophie Amelia Prosser, issued in London in 1875 by the Religious Tract Society for family and Sunday-school reading. The plates are wood-engraved chapter initials in which a patterned capital sits against a spray of identifiable plants — oak and acorns, flowering hawthorn, pine and heather with a moth, pansies and bindweed — usable as drop caps, corner ornaments or cut-out botanical vignettes.
