Lake Scenery of England
A folio of English Lake District views drawn by the landscape painter James Baker Pyne and issued as tinted chromolithographs in London in 1859 for Victorian tourists and print buyers. The 26 plates are wide horizontal panoramas—lake water, layered hills, foreground rocks and a framing tree, with small figures, boats and grazing cattle for scale—printed in soft greens, ochres and pale blue-greys that supply ready-made landscape backdrops and gradient skies.
