Mynheer Joe. A semi-humorous story of love and adventure. Illustrated
A cheap illustrated popular novel of love and adventure by the American dime-fiction writer St. George Rathborne, issued by J. Henderson in 1893 for a mass readership. The 26 plates are small pen-and-ink vignettes of Dutch coastal life — sailing smacks and barges on flat water, a ruined tower behind scrub, church spires on a low horizon — drawn in loose parallel hatching that leaves wide areas of blank paper, ready for use as headpieces, spot drawings and page tailpieces.
