Mary Price; or, the Memoirs of a servant-maid ... Illustrated with fifty-two engravings by F. Gilbert
A penny-serial melodrama by G. W. M. Reynolds, published by John Dicks in London in 1852 for a mass working-class readership, with fifty-two wood engravings by Frederick Gilbert. The plates stage domestic and prison interiors in dense cross-hatching: maids in bonnets and aprons, women in wide skirts, top-hatted men confronting each other, barred windows and children clustered at a doorway.
