Pickwick abroad; or, the Tour in France ... Illustrated with forty steel engravings by Crowquill, and thirty-three wood cuts
A sequel novel by George W. M. Reynolds sending Dickens's Pickwick Club on a tour of France, issued in London by Henry G. Bohn in 1864 with steel engravings by Alfred Crowquill and wood cuts for a popular reading public. The plates show crowded comic scenes: ballroom arcades, tavern interiors, street mobs and hurrying groups, drawn in loose etched line with white backgrounds, useful for period costume, gesture and crowd staging.
