The plates are soft grey landscape views, bound sideways on wide margins, showing wooded riverbanks, weirs and mill-side reaches under broad cloud-filled skies, with fine stipple and hatching that yields usable textures for foliage masses, water surfaces and atmospheric backgrounds.
