Les anciennes provinces de la France. Études étymologiques et onomatologiques sur leur nom et celui de leurs habitants

ROLLAND DE DENUS, André. · 1885 · 13 pictures

A French study by André Rolland de Denus, published in 1885, tracing the etymology of the names of France's old provinces and their inhabitants, written for philologists and regional historians. The plates are line-engraved tailpieces and headbands: symmetrical acanthus scrollwork, rosettes, palmettes and small grotesque masks with fanned collars, usable as chapter dividers, borders or repeatable ornament.
