Dictionnaire des appellations ethniques de la France et de ses colonies
A French reference work of 1889 by André Rolland de Denus, cataloguing the ethnic nicknames and demonyms of France and its colonies for philologists and folklorists. The plates are repeated printer's tailpieces drawn in fine outline: symmetrical acanthus scrolls flanking palmettes, rosettes and small human masks, usable as rule-thin ornaments, spot decorations or motifs for borders and monogram frames.
