Saint Nicolas' Eve, and other tales
A collection of short tales for children by Mary Catherine Rowsell, issued in London by Griffith & Farran in 1880 for a family and gift-book readership. The nine pictures are small wood-engraved vignettes printed as chapter heads and tailpieces: sprays of rose and buttercup drawn in fine outline with hatched shading, and a grotesque winged dragon head growing out of acanthus leaves and seed pods, useful as spot ornaments, dividers and corner pieces.
