A German-language account of an 1881 journey through Egypt and the Near East, illustrated throughout by the Austrian animal and landscape painter Franz von Pausinger and issued in Vienna in 1885 for a court and subscription readership. The full-page plates are soft tonal wash drawings of hunting parties, camels, boats and palm-fringed riverbanks, printed in warm monochrome with wide margins, useful for atmospheric landscape silhouettes and grouped figure-and-animal vignettes.
