A German illustrated compendium of foreign lands, peoples, animals and monuments, compiled by Johann Daniel Friedrich Rumpf and Georg Wilhelm Bartholdy and issued in 1805 as a revised edition for lay readers at home. The numbered copperplates are lightly etched outline scenes, printed in pale green and grey with German captions below: Indian and Near Eastern figures, ascetics and armed men, palms, huts and domed towns, some plates split into two registers, useful for thin-line figure groups, tropical foliage borders and framed caption blocks.
