St. Nicholas' Hill and other sketches. Selected from the folio of an old Ennuyé [John Staunton
A collection of prose sketches by John Staunton of Longbridge, issued in 1868 and held by the British Library, presented as selections from a gentleman amateur's folio for a small readership of private and club subscribers. The eight plates are small pen-and-ink vignettes: grotesque winged dragon heads hatching out of curling acanthus, and sprays combining rose, thistle, shamrock and holly, all built from fine stipple and contour hatching that reproduces cleanly at chapter-head or logo scale.
