A local history of the Northumberland border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed and its merchant guild, written by resident antiquary John Scott and published by Elliot Stock in London in 1888 for subscribers and local readers. Alongside photo-engraved views, the volume is broken up by rectangular banner ornaments in line-engraved relief style — acanthus scrolls, tulips and pomegranates, facing birds and winged figures around central urns — usable as chapter headpieces, rules and framed panel borders.
