The Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott ... With a memoir of the author. Illustrated by many engravings, etc
An 1857 Edinburgh edition of Sir Walter Scott's collected poetry from A. & C. Black, with a memoir of the author and wood-engraved illustrations, issued for Victorian household readers of border ballads and narrative romance. The cuts are loose, open-line vignettes without frames: armoured men gathered over a fallen comrade, riders doubled on a galloping horse, skirmishers strung across hillsides, and still-life headpieces of books, helmets and weapons.
