Royal Characters from the works of Sir Walter Scott, historical and romantic. Selected and arranged by W. T. Dobson. With twelve ... illustrations, in permanent photography
An anthology of kingly and queenly passages culled from Walter Scott's novels and poems, compiled by William T. Dobson and issued by Bickers & Son in London in 1881 for Victorian readers of Scott. Twelve photographic plates after paintings give tonal sepia crowd scenes under trees and castle walls, while small wood-engraved vignettes show armoured riders with lances in tight oval frames, useful for medieval figure silhouettes, hatched horse anatomy and compact spot illustrations.
