The Black Forest, its people and legends. [With maps and illustrations
A travel and folklore account of the Black Forest by Lisbeth Gooch Séguin (later Strahan), published in London in 1879 for English general readers, combining topographical description with local legends. The wood engravings are mostly landscape plates with rounded or cusped corner frames — river valleys, hillside towns, castle ruins — plus smaller in-text vignettes of thatched timber farmhouses and spruce stands, offering ready-made framed vistas, decorative plate borders and fine-line foliage and rock textures.
