A German-language ethnographic survey of the Serbs of the Adriatic littoral, written by Archduke Ludwig Salvator of Austria and published in 1870 for educated European readers interested in regional types and dress. Chromolithograph plates place one or two figures in open hillside and river landscapes, cataloguing red caps, embroidered waistcoats, sashes, wide trousers and sandals in flat pastel colour with hand-lettered place captions — useful for costume detail, muted colour palettes and standing-figure poses against sky.
