A Victorian boys' story book, "Chums: a tale for the youngsters" by Harleigh Severne, published in London in 1878 for young readers. Wood-engraved plates with captioned dialogue show schoolboys in caps and smocks scrumping apples, dangling from branches, tumbling through doorways and gathered round a pet's grave — useful for period children's dress, mischief poses and outdoor group compositions.
