По Сѣверо-Западу Россіи. [With illustrations and maps
Konstantin Sluchevsky's two-volume Russian travel account of the empire's north-west — the Baltic provinces, Finland, Belarusian and Novgorod lands — published in St Petersburg in 1897 for general readers following the author's official tours. The 206 plates and in-text blocks are wood engravings and halftones of town squares, gabled Hanseatic houses, brick fortresses, monasteries and Orthodox church exteriors, many in wide horizontal format with Cyrillic captions set beneath.
