A collection of verses for young children published by Ward, Lock & Tyler in London in 1868, illustrated from designs by several artists and engraved by Leighton Brothers. Plates alternate between chromolithographed colour and grey-toned wood engravings, showing cottage children, thatched roofs, village church spires and heavy foliage framing distant fields, with captions set in small capitals beneath oval or arched vignette borders.
