An 1888 boys' emigration adventure novel by Gordon Stables, published in London, following an English family from country squires to Australian sheep station life. The nine captioned wood-engraved plates mix English lanes and gates with Australian bush skirmishes, tree-fern gullies and street brawls, giving designers figures with rifles and wide-brimmed hats, dense fern and eucalypt foliage, and quoted caption lines set beneath ruled frames.
