Never Give In. A tale of the life and times of Gustavus Adolphus
A juvenile historical novel by Grace Stebbing, issued in London by Shaw & Co. in 1896, retelling the life of Gustavus Adolphus and the Thirty Years' War for young readers. The 61 illustrations are soft crayon-and-pencil vignettes set into the text beside drop capitals, showing men in doublets, slashed breeches and bucket-top boots conferring, reading letters and sitting at table, with figures drawn against blank or lightly hatched ground — useful as cut-out figure groups and as models for text-wrapped chapter openers.
