Edinburgh. Picturesque Notes ... With etchings by A. Brunet-Debaines from drawings by S. Bough ... and W. E. Lockhart, etc
Robert Louis Stevenson's 1896 essay collection on Edinburgh, issued by Seeley & Co. in London with etchings after Sam Bough and W. E. Lockhart and pen drawings by Thomas Hamilton Crawford, aimed at Victorian readers and visitors to the city. Vignetted pen-and-ink townscapes fade into white paper at their edges, with crow-stepped gables, gravestones, gas lamps, horse cabs and small crowds; useful for loose architectural line work and figure groups.
